Client Stories: Families' stories

The Meaning of Appreciation:

Even at The Homelessness Project (THP) there are days when nothing seems to go right.  Every time a government hurdle is crossed, another one appears in our path.  There is endless red tape and waiting and paperwork and waiting and phone calls and waiting.  And then you get a note or call from a former THP client telling of a recent success, and deep down you know that it’s all been worth it.

Recently, a former THP client sent a note to say, “You took a chance with us and allowed us into your program.  I told you that I would come through the program and become educated so that I could support myself independently.  At the time I was hoping that I could really keep those promises myself.  Thank you for giving me a chance…When I look at my son sleeping peacefully in his bed I think how grateful I am that he has a roof over his head and a full stomach, and I will never forget who enabled this to happen.”
