HomeStep is a program of The Church Council of Greater Seattle providing 100 transitional housing units in scattered site apartment and houses across King County.  Our mission is to provide safe and supportive housing while giving participants the skills and resources they need to become self sufficient and to leave homelessness permanently. 

 

HomeStep Family Advocate

 

General Description:

The Family Advocate provides coordination of support services for homeless families in scattered site transitional housing for up to 24 months and quarterly follow up care for an additional two years.  (S)he develops a housing stability plan and initiates the process for locating permanent housing.  The housing stability plan specifically addresses multiple issues that may have led to homelessness.  These may include domestic violence histories, prior drug and alcohol use, generational poverty, trauma experiences or lack of English speaking ability.   (S)he supports the family in achieving self sufficiency through defining achievable goals, encouraging/expecting progress on goals and assistance in accessing all available resources.  Progress is measured quarterly utilizing multiple tools.  The Advocate works weekly with approximately 12-20 families at a time. 

 

The Family Advocate reports to the Assistant Program Director.

 

This is a 40 hour per week exempt position.

 

HomeStep Single Adult Advocate

 

The Single Adult Advocate provides coordination of support services for homeless individuals in scattered site transitional housing for up to 24 months and quarterly follow up care for an additional two years.  (S)he develops a housing stability plan and initiates the process for locating permanent housing.  The housing stability plan specifically addresses multiple issues that may have led to homelessness.  These may include domestic violence histories, prior drug and alcohol use, generational poverty, trauma experiences or lack of English speaking ability.   (S)he supports the individual in achieving self sufficiency through defining achievable goals, encouraging/expecting progress on goals and assistance in accessing all available resources.  Progress is measured quarterly utilizing multiple tools.  The Advocate works with approximately 12-20 individuals at a time. 

 

The Advocate reports to the Assistant Program Director.

HomeStep Occupancy Coordinator

 

The Occupancy Coordinator serves as the key contact for all property owners and landlords providing housing units for participants in the HomeStep program. (S)he tracks all upcoming vacancies and facilitates the recruiting, application, and screening processes for all potential clients.   The Occupancy Coordinator conducts the initial intake interviews and assists in completing all paperwork and background investigations.  Once a client has been accepted into the program, this position facilitates the move-in process in coordination with the landlord and assists the client in obtaining any immediate needs.  The Occupancy Coordinator also coordinates monthly apartment checks to ensure clients are maintaining the property in accordance with their leases and HomeStep guidelines. This position is one of two Occupancy Coordinator positions and works primarily with families gaining access to the program.

 

The Occupancy Coordinator works closely with the Clinical Services Manager, Assistant Director and all Family Advocates and is supervised by the Assistant Director. This is an exempt (30 hours a week) position.
